William Flynn

1890 - 1944

Along with A.W. Tillinghast, George C. Thomas, George Crump, and others, Flynn was part of the Philadelphia School of golf course architecture. He’s best known for designing Shinnecock Hills, Cherry Hills, and his contributions at both Merion Golf Club and The Country Club at Brookline. As a high schooler, he played golf against 1913 U.S. Open Champion Francis Ouimet.
